PEMBROKE PRAYER Takes Trot Track Record at Skowhegan

PEMBROKE PRAYER used to hold the aged trotting geldings track record at Skowhegan. Three years to the day, he reclaimed that record in 1:57.3 and established a new All Age Trotting Track Record for Skowhegan State Fair. The classy 11-year old is owned by Bill Varney, trained by Val Grondin and driven by Heath Campbell.

Track Records Fall on Skowhegan Opening Day

Opening day at the Skowhegan State Fair brought two new divisional track records on a hot Sunday afternoon. BIBBIDI BOO made a statement in the three year old filly division as she set a new track record of 2:00.1 for owners Lynn-Marie Plouffe and Bill Varney, trainer Val Grondin and driver Heath Campbell. In the feature race of the afternoon, Kevin Switzer guided LETSMAKEAWISH to a 1:54.4 mile establishing a new track record. Switzer bred, owns and trains the three year old gelding pacer.

Gary Mosher gets career win #6,000

The vanity plate on his pickup says "Mr 5000", but Gary Mosher became Mr 6000 on Monday at the Topsham Fair when he drove SO WHAT WHO CARES to victory in 1:59.0. As for the license plate, his kids are getting him a new one as a gift for his milestone.

Track Records broken at Northern Maine Fair

Three track records were broken at Northern Maine Fair this week as racing returned to the county.
RECKLESS REBEL claimed the three year old pacing gelding record in sires stake action with his mile in 1:57.0 for driver Kevin Switzer, Jr. He is trained by David Crochere and owned by East Post Stable.
TWIN B SPY took the track record for four year old pacing geldings in 1:55.3 with Ruel Goodblood, Jr. for trainer Joe Nelson and owner Michele Nelson.
ONLY THE LONELY was one click off the all-age track record when he became the fastest aged pacing horse at the Presque Isle oval in 1:54.2 with Eddie Davis, Jr. driving. He is trained by Bo Sowers for owner David Macdonald
