Both All Age Track Records fell today at the Union Fair as speed continues
this year at the fair tracks.
Michele Nelson's WARRAWEE NONSUCH, with Joey Mosher in the sulky, went wire to
wire and held off the challenging PEMBROKE SCORPIO at the finish in 1:55.0 for
trainer Joe Nelson. The mile elipsed a two year old record held by MR NICE GUY
and Kim Ireland.
On the trotting side, SWIFT KID broke a twenty year old record as he crossed
the finish line in 1:59.3 with Eddie Davis in the bike. The 10 year old
gelding is owned by Mo Coo, Inc and Jonathan Klee and trained by Bo Sowers.
The old record was held by CORKY'S BOY, a classy trotter that set the record
in 1995 with Shawn Thayer.
Earlier in the week, records were set by HOLLYWOOD MUSCLES IN 2:04.4 with
Scott MacKenzie driving (four year old trotting horse), CLAIM JUMPER in 2:01.3
with Drew Campbell driving (aged trotting mare), and MOLLY GRACE in 1:56.0
with Gary Mosher driving (aged pacing mare)
Racing heads to Windsor Fair for racing every day up to Labor Day.
