Don Richards Day is a dedication to one of the most respected men in harness racing.
The day will be filled with many activities starting with “Girls On The Run” wearing
the familiar black and orange colors of Don Richards as they will walk the track
in a pledge fund raiser. This group of teenage girls from the Portland area and
their families and friends will be walking from 10 A.M. to Noon and will be taking
“Lap Pledges” on how many times the various participants can traverse the half
mile oval.
Around Noon there will be a buffet in both the grandstand and the paddock. Many
groups will be dedicating their time in putting together a feast to be remembered.
There will be a 50/50 raffle plus an auction
Money raised will be donated to both the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Cumberland
Maine Rescue Squad. Don attributes the diligence of the rescue squad in saving
his life.
