The post parade for the third race at Scarborough Downs was a somber one on Friday.
With the Downs' flags at half-staff and as the balance of the field waited in the paddock,
the trotter Endless Vacation paraded alone as a memorial tribute to the mare's popular
owner and trainer, Jerry Watson, who died Thursday of cancer.
Driven by John Beckwith, the trotter slowly circled the oval as track announcer Mike
Sweeney offered a tribute to Watson. After a moment of silence, the rest of the trotters
entered the track.
In the race that followed, Endless Vacation finished third in a dead heat, a neck off the win.
