The horse that holds the record for the fastest mile in the state of Maine etched his name in the record books
at the Oxford County Fair on Saturday posting the fastest pacing mile ever.
Rodeo Du Ruisseau won the Walter Hight Invitational at the Skowhegan State Fair on August 21st in a state record
time of 1:52.3. The 8 year-old gelded son of Yankee Cam came into Oxford having beat some of his same rivals
at Scarborough Downs the week before. Rodeo does his best work on the front end and that is what Ron Cushing
knew as when the starter said "go" Cushing and All Pro Hall was first into the turn from post five.
After the race driver Drew Campbell said that if he sat the pocket All Pro Hall could have rated the mile to
his liking and that Rodeo would have to come a pretty good last clip to beat the horse that missed by a neck
to him in the Hight. Campbell said that he put the sword down and tipped with Rodeo sweeping by All Pro Hall
heading to the quarter in 27.1. From there Campbell throttled the speed of Rodeo with his patented Lazy Boy
reclining style posture. Campbell and Rodeo Du Ruisseau hit the half in 55.3 and three quarters in 1:25 then
coasted home a length and a quarter the best over All Pro Hall in the track record time of 1:54.3. With this
victory Rodeo Du Ruisseau went over the quarter million dollar mark lifetime and upped his overall win total
to 45.
Dick Robertson, Sr. trains and shares ownership of Rodeo Du Ruisseau with Sharon Ann Spaulding, both from Limington,
Maine. Rodeo was claimed back on July 3rd at Scarborough Downs from the Ben, Bill and Will Stable for $15,000
and has since put in the bank $26,910.
