Award-winning documentary makers at incredibleMaine,
have completed and are set to air a half-hour
documentary featuring Scarborough Downs and
harness racing in Maine, during a pledge telecast
on the Maine Public Broadcasting Network (MPBN)
on June 12th between 5 pm and 6:30 pm.
The show gives a rare behind-the-scenes look
at the industry, from the work of harness racing
drivers, trainers, and grooms, as well as highlights
the Robertson family of Scarborough, who have
horses stabled at The Downs. The filming took
place last September.
In its third season, the independently-produced
incredibleMAINE, hosted by LC Van Savage, produced
by Marilyn Taylor and Dave Wilkinson, has also
garnered several Telly awards. Taylor created
the show in 2006 as a cable access program shown
on 65 cable systems in Maine and elsewhere.
MPBN started airing the show in 2007. The group
just received its second Emmy nomination for
“Farm Camp,” a documentary about sustainable
living in the next generation in Maine.
Scarborough Downs is celebrating its 60th season
in 2010 and showcases live harness racing action
every Thursday – Saturday at 4 pm; Sunday at
1:30 pm.
