Scarborough ME, May 21, 2010

Kerogen, Maine’s two-time defending Trotter of the Year, displayed the grit and determination that made him a champion on Friday (5/21) at Scarborough, surviving a grueling overland journey to lay claim his 50th career win.

It never gets old. Kerogen crosses the finish line on top for the 50th time in his career.
Trained by Wendy Ireland and teamed by Kim Ireland, Kerogen’s desire has never been questioned, and in fact his penchant for Winner’s Circle photography sessions is clearly evidenced by the fact that those 50 career wins came in only 103 lifetime starts.

Kerogen now boasts back-to-back wins in Scarborough Downs’ $8,000 Free-for-All class.

In other news: Driver Shawn Gray reinforced his position atop Scarborough’s leaders board by securing 4 wins from the day’s 10-race card. And driver Ron Cushing moved 1 win closer to his latest milestone -- the man in maroon and gold sits just 7 wins away from his 1500th career victory lap.

Live racing resumes Saturday afternoon at Scarborough with a 4 pm post time.
